The Spark as a group of Social Justice activists have been on a journey: from the deep reflections coming out of last years Spark event, leading to many re-adjustments that have needed to be made in our attempts to reach ‘the community’, to where we find ourselves over the course of these six weeks of the Spark 2016.
It is a journey that is not yet over and we now understand, more fully, that we can’t even make it without the said community being part of this journey:
‘If you want to travel fast, travel alone
If you want to travel far, travel together’
Is an African proverb that we are embracing, because we are in this activism for the distance!
Book your place NOW! In these heady days, following the EU Referendum and with that man in the States causing a (T)rumpus and with our newly elected equivalent here in the UK, set to make her mark, we have a lot to reflect upon.
The closing day will be a full on immersion in what activism means to us in theory and in practice and together we will explore what we bring to it, who really owns and controls it and how we can make it more relevant to all of us.
Book now. Places are limited and …when it’s gone…its gone…
Lunch and Dinner will be available. A donation is welcome.
In the evening there will also be showcases from some of the Spark workshops, and other performers tbc.
Please book so reserve your place, and s that we know numbers for food preperatoin (go back to the programme and tick the box next to this event)
